Welcome Zoe Gillett

This month, Watermark Creative welcomes Zoe Gillett to the family.

Zoe is a versatile and accomplished creative who describes her illustrative style as ‘the natural world meets folktales’. Having studied both graphic design and illustration as part of her visual communication degree, she brings an extra layer of expertise to every project.

Zoe grew up in New Zealand’s Whitianga on the Coromandel Peninsula, and now lives in Wellington. A passionate sun and nature lover, she finds that creative ideas often come during long walks and outdoor adventures, or via in-depth conversations with her house plants and cat Jossy.

‘The people closest to me actually inspire me the most,’ says Zoe. ‘The friends I went to uni with and other people I meet in the industry who do awesome work. It’s a really hard industry to get started in, so seeing what people do with their creativity and how they turn it into a career is really inspirational. It’s kept me plugging away at my own career when times were challenging’.

While Zoe’s style often leans towards intricate detail with a sprinkle of surrealism, she’s excited at any opportunity to be ‘chucked in at the deep end’ to push her creative boundaries.  Favourite projects encompass labels for Akarua wines and large scale works for New Zealand’s national museum Te Papa Tongarewa.

Zoe loves to bring her clients’ brand stories and vision to life through her work, and prides herself on her creative intuition and professionalism.

Fun fact – the only bone Zoe has ever broken came as a result of a chicken chasing her down a hill!
