Watermark Creative partners with Chromacon to award indie illustrators

Chromacon is a biennial indie arts festival based in Auckland, which will be taking place on the weekend of 1-2 June this year. No need to purchase tickets, entry is free and you can simply turn up for two days of incredibly crunchy creative inspiration.

The festival celebrates ‘the coming together of creativity, artistic excellence and community’, with an ethos of making art accessible  to all, regardless of culture, age, technology or gender. Now that sounds pretty good to us, so we decided to hop on board as a sponsor for their art awards.

The Chroma Art Awards are open to New Zealanders of all ages, celebrating independent work across five disciplines, and Watermark Creative is a proud sponsor of the illustration category. Prizes include a trophy, $500 cash and a gift pack.  Entries close Friday 24 May and winners will be announced at the Chroma Art Awards Evening on June 1st. You can find out more and submit your entries via the Chromacon website.

Come along to the festival and meet WMC artist Dede Putra, who will be on hand to offer insights into some of his recent creative and print experiments, including his custom Japanese warrior shoes and custom printed skateboard (read more about those items in our article Print and paper innovations to push your creative boundaries).

Also in attendance will be portrait master Joseph Qiu, and Stevie Mahardhika who has framed a selection of art, which he will offer on sale at his stand.
