LOOK CLOSELY TO SEE CIVILITY’S DOUBLE-VISION
In collaboration with Draft FCB Auckland we worked on an OOH campaign to promote costume drama Downton Abbey. The brief was to create a series of images with the accompanying slogan – ‘Civility is a Facade’.
The challenge was not the composition of the art itself, but creating and incorporating the double images as visual twists. The aim was for the illustrations to show a ‘civil’ image on first sight with subversive messaging revealed when viewed for longer.
In line with the aristocratic, post-Edwardian English setting, illustrator Anton Petrov created a detailed, rich, Art Nouveau-esque style that suited not only the series but the intended visual trickery. The highly visible bus stop and billboard campaign was executed across metropolitan Auckland.
