CAR HIRE EXCESS – BRAND MASCOT

YOU WON’T GET FLEECED WITH BAARNEY BEHIND THE WHEEL


Car Hire Excess came to Watermark needing creative for a friendly mascot for the launch of a new product. Their tag line “Don’t Get Fleeced” was perfect. With an immediate sense of humour in relation to the rental vehicle insurance sector, we decided this was an expression we could leverage in a light-hearted and effective way.

Introducing Baaaney the sheep. Numerous loose versions of the character were prepared for the client before Baaaney (pun absolutely intended) was developed to a finished sketch. Illustrator Courtney Hopkinson then moved to sculpting the character in ZBrush. Technically the project was challenging. The first 3D style character went through multiple variations testing and developing the texture and fluffiness of the wool in Cinema 4D.
