PREMIUM, CROSS CULTURAL BRAND APPEAL
Artesian Water was launching a superior still and sparkling water brand that would be sold exclusively in restaurants across China and New Zealand. This luxury label needed to resonate with both the Chinese and New Zealand markets.
Critical to success was creating a visual language that could appeal to these two diverse audiences. We needed to unify the needs of each market, yet respect the range of visual cues directed by cultural differences in each. Meanwhile, the dominant codes of the water category needed to be presented in a unique and creative manner.
Illustrator Trevor Power was commissioned to visually articulate the qualities of the premium product while ensuring that the pure form of the water bottle design was complemented. Referencing New Zealand’s highly decorative historical stamps and 19th century landscape art, Powell combines these elements to elicit the purity of Pre-European New Zealand. The typography is finished with gold foil to reinforce a sense of premium opulence – making this a bottle of pure elegance.
