CHILDREN’S CHARITY FUNDRAISER
The Alannah and Madeline Foundation is a national charity protecting children from violence and its devastating impact. Teaming up with Yarra Valley Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery, the Foundation organised ‘Hop for Hope’,
Over the course of a month, Elise painted Jill the kangaroo investing over 50 hours giving ‘Jill’ a beautiful hand-painted makeover. ‘I chose a combination of bright colours and birds, insects, flowing shapes and flowers to represent life, optimism and a better tomorrow,” said Elise. The word ‘hope’ was incorporated throughout the work in many different languages including a raised braille translation on the left ear.
The 69 painted kangaroos were on exhibition in ‘Hop for Hope’ for 2 months in the period 1 September – 1 November, 2015 at the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery in Yarra Glen, Victoria. All art works sold, with Elise’s Kangaroo raising $5,750 to go towards protecting children from violence. Watch the amazing time lapse video of Elise painting Jill here.
