Born in Australia and spending his early childhood in Wellington and surrounds, Simon attended design school in Wellington where he then went on to start Watermark. These days he wakes up on Waiheke Island, spending his spare time gardening or lazing on Onetangi beach with his daughter, fiancée and dog.
Simon remembers his first taste of creative success with immense pride at the age of five years when his picture of a fire engine was held up as the class’ best. He is hoping his young daughter will enjoy drawing as much as her dad does but in the meantime finds it deeply satisfying mentoring Watermark’s young creatives and helping them to achieve their dreams. Acutely aware of the challenges of his craft to remain relevant, and having strong views about creative collaboration, Simon invites all clients to embrace ideas as well as style, and to approach illustration as integral to the creative mix.
